up, up, and away...

this past saturday, mike and i had our first official date-night. grandma and grandpa h did us the favor of bringing over some chipotle and watching the ninja while we went out and saw "up" in 3D. we loved the movie and had a lovely, sparkly time. on the way home we snagged a little dessert to share, and when we got there, found sam still protesting his bedtime. he didn't want to miss a thing until his grandparents left. apparently his mom and dad are plenty boring enough to induce the required sleepiness.

all in all, it was a great date!

under the weather

sammy spent a good part of the weekend with a horrible sounding cough. we assumed it was the last vestige of the cold we all shared a few weeks ago, but just to be safe, mike took him to the pediatrician to get it looked at. turns out the cough probably is related to the cold, but he also had ear infections in both ears, and his eyes were also a bit goopy. so not only does he have a wicked cough and antibiotics to take, he also has another round of eyedrops.

going, going, gone!

what a week! after a major shake-up at work last week (which spilled over into this week—causing much discussion and meetings), a sick computer, and mike out of town for a couple of days, i'm more than ready for the long, holiday weekend!
tonight we'll be packing up sam and heading down to visit with mike's family and celebrate a few birthdays. if you wonder which car is ours, just follow the trail of bubbles.

too many meetings/not enough saturdays

work has been insane lately. huzzah for holiday weekends. just three more days to go.

goodies

last night while mike was out of town, sammy and i baked up some goodies for my co-workers who have birthdays this week. we had to stay up a little late to get them finished and wrapped up, and sam was quick to let me know that 9pm was past his bedtime. by the time i got to bed, sam was already waking up for his midnight snack. i think he was hoping for brownies.

three months old!

sammy officially turned three months old yesterday. the time is absolutely flying by. i feel like i need to capture every single day in photographs because he's changing so very fast. and also because i enjoy looking at his cute, little self. i post the following photos as evidence of said cuteness:

a happy mothers' day

my first mothers' day as a mom was pretty sparkly. i got to spend the whole day with my boys - going to church and visiting with grandparents, going for a long, lovely walk/hike at the park, and having dinner with family.

one of my favorite parts was getting to use my new mug from sam and mike. it makes excellent oatmeal. i can't wait to see if it makes good soup too.

being sammy's mom is pretty awesome. i get the best gifts every day - smiles and hugs and chances to give kisses to the cutest little belly - and i'm finally starting to get my mom powers. hurrah!

cold, cold go away

we're all working on banishing a cold at our house. hopefully by tomorrow we'll be sniffle free. for the most part, sam has been the most cheerful of the sickies.
